Thank you for visiting Good Samaritan on the Web. Good Samaritan United Methodist Church is a Christian community of acceptance, reaching out to others and engaging members in vital ministry. We hope that your experience at Good Samaritan will be meaningful and fulfilling. In this section of the web site, we have provided some visitor information for you, to aid in your worship experience, along with some frequently asked questions. “Where is Good Samaritan, and once there, where do I park?” Good Samaritan is located west of Tracy Avenue in Edina , Minnesota , on Grove Street . There are 2 parking areas, the lower lot (first one you come to) and the upper lot (second one you come to) and you are welcome to park in either area. "Visitor Parking" spaces are available in the lower lot. A map to our church is available below. “Where is the Sanctuary?” The Sanctuary is located on the upper level. For families with infants and toddlers, our nursery is directly adjacent to the Sanctuary. Please fill out a nametag as you enter the sanctuary so we may better recognize and greet you. “What are the service times?” Our year round schedule of services are at 9:00 and 10:30 am followed by social time with coffee and donuts in the Fellowship Hall. During the summer months, some of our 9 o'clock worship services will be held outside in our Amphitheater. Greeters will be happy to direct you to the seating area for these services. “How can I meet a member of Good Samaritan while visiting?” Just outside the Sanctuary, is a dedicated Welcome Center, which is staffed after each service by members of Good Samaritan. Please introduce yourself, and let us know a little bit about yourself when you are visiting. We are always happy to talk with you about our faith community and the spiritual, social, and service opportunities available to members and friends alike. Let us know how we can better serve you as you get to know our church community. In addition to the formal welcome center, we offer the opportunity to meet many members in a casual setting in the Fellowship Hall immediately after each worship service. We hope you will linger a little after the service and join us for coffee or lemonade and donut holes and good conversation the next time you join us for worship. “What types of programs does Good Samaritan offer its members?” Good Samaritan is an open and accepting community of faith, and all of our programs are open to members and friends alike. We have programs offering spiritual and social growth, as well as service opportunities for children, youth, and adults. You can find out about upcoming events by viewing this weeks newsletter the "Samaritan." Good Samaritan voted to join the Reconciling Movement in January of 1995. Statement of Reconciliation Good Samaritan United Methodist Church believes that we are all children of God and that God loves us all equally. We welcome and affirm people of all sexual orientations. We pledge our love and acceptance to all people, especially those who have felt abandoned by the institutional church. We proclaim ourselves to be a church of reconciliation to all people. Join with us in the worship of the God of love.
We understand that many guests want to investigate the church before they attend, and may have questions about Good Samaritan and the Methodist Story. We offer a Pre-Membership Class once a month. You are also welcome to contact Becky Sechrist, our Associate Pastor if you you have further questions. See you in Church! |
