This group attends local (off-Hennepin Avenue) theater and concert events. Our next Theatre a la Mode event will be the Henry’s Freedom Box at SteppingStone Theatre. This world premiere play follows the story of a slave’s courageous quest for freedom. Under the grueling conditions of a Richmond tobacco factory, everyone Henry cares about is taken away from him. Tired of being powerless, he devises an ingenious way to escape to Philadelphia, where he can live a life where everyone can be free. Inspired by actual events on the Underground Railroad, Henry’s Freedom Box is a story of perseverance and courage. We’ll see the show on Sunday, Feb. 23, at 3:30 PM. Tickets are $7. Please sign up at the Adult Council table by Feb. 7. |

Hearts of Hope is a spiritually-based support group for parents, families, and friends of GLBT persons where everyone will feel safe and welcome. Maybe a family member or friend has revealed him or herself to be gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender. The revelation of your loved one’s sexual orientation or gender identity can bring up a range of responses. Some people find themselves repressing their feelings while others may be flooded by over-whelming emotions. One common experience is the need for a period of adjustment to come to a new understanding and relationship with your loved one. |
