Reconciling Church

The Reconciling Ministry at Good Samaritan has been active for more than twenty years. We welcome and affirm all persons regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, race or socioeconomic background. We seek to reconcile any differences that divide us. We seek full inclusion of the LGBTQI Community in the life of our denomination.

Good Samaritan’s Statement of Connection with the LGBTQI Community

Good Samaritan United Methodist Church believes that we are all children of God and that God loves us all equally. We welcome and affirm people of all sexual orientations. We pledge our love and acceptance to all people, especially those who have felt abandoned by the institutional church. We proclaim ourselves to be a church of reconciliation to all people.

Making it Happen

Our actions to implement the mission and vision include participation as one of the Minnesota Reconciling Congregations for which we make an annual contribution that totaled $400 this year. That assists in participation in the annual Twin Cities Pride Festival. We have also been active in supporting full inclusion through written communication and financial support at the denominational level at General Conference 2016. We have been invited by the Reconciling Ministries Network (RMN) to contribute approximately $10,000 to support efforts to change the Discipline of The United Methodist Church to fully include the LTGBQI Community. These efforts include links to other social justice initiatives through the Love Your Neighbor Coalition (LYN). We are working with RMN to bring change and prepare for the next General Conference scheduled in the Twin Cities in 2020.

Please join us in this effort with your time, your talents and your financial support.
