Minnesota FoodShare

March is Minnesota FoodShare Month.  Good Samaritan will once again participate with food and/or monetary donations going to VEAP and the Joyce Food Shelf. Take a grocery bag today with a list of the most needed items. Food donations can be dropped off in the narthex anytime in March and money donations in Sunday offering or the locked box by the staff mailboxes.  A $1.00 donation equals 5 pounds of food! In 2018, over $8.1 million dollars and 5.5 million pounds of food were raised by Minnesota food shelves and Minnesota FoodShare.  Thank you to Cub Foods for donating the grocery bags.

Join fellow Good Samaritan’s and play the board game Home Sweet Homelessness: March 10, after the service –  The whole family can join in playing for 15-20 minutes which will give you emotional insight into the difficult choices people in poverty have to make daily. This is worthwhile in itself, but it also promotes Beacon’s political action day on March 13, “Homelessness Day on the Hill,” described above.
