Beacon Interfaith Housing Collaborative is a partnership of over 80 congregations who seek to end homelessness in our area through the Families Moving Forward shelter program, the creation of stable housing at multiple sites, and public advocacy.
Good Samaritan is part of the network of churches/synagogues that sponsor Families Moving Forward, an agency dedicated to serving the homeless with children. Families Moving Forward is now a program of Beacon Interfaith Housing Collaborative.
Twice a year, we open our doors, for 7 days, to families through Families Moving Forward enabling them to feel “at home” at Good Samaritan.
Every day our Families Moving Forward guests are here, we will need:
- Volunteers to fund and prepare dinner.
- Evening Play Hosts to play in the gym or do crafts with the children.
- Overnight Hosts to ensure guests are settled for the night and layout a cold breakfast. You can sleep, beds are provided, and you are done by 7:30 a.m.
- Prior to the arrival of our guests, we will need a set-up crew and at the end of the week we will need a take-down crew. It’s a big commitment, and it takes a lot of volunteers—but Good Sam has always met the challenge.
