Rev. Carol Zaagsma

Lead Pastor

Pastor Carol’s greatest joy in ministry is encouraging people as they grow in their faith and to work together for God’s purposes. In the spirit of 1 Corinthians 12, where we’re reminded that “the body does not consist of one member but of many,” she is inspired by how often we can accomplish something far greater by working together than an individual can on their own.

Pastor Carol was appointed to Good Samaritan UMC in August 2021, after having served congregations in Saint Paul, Mankato and Bloomington. Prior to ordained ministry, she enjoyed careers in retail and then the financial services industry. She holds a BS in Music Education from Missouri State University, an M.Div from United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities, and will soon complete her MBA in Nonprofit Church Leadership from Dakota Wesleyan University.

Pastor Carol is an Enneagram Type 5, and her StrengthsFinder Top Five are Achiever, Deliberative, Analytical, Individualization, and Relator. She is married to Linda and they live in Bloomington with a dog and cat. Pastor Carol plays trumpet in the Medalist Concert Band and in the Twin Cities Trumpet Ensemble, and enjoys photography, watching movies, the Minnesota State Fair and travel.
