Other Lenten Events
Our Lenten worship series for this year is “Tell Me Something Good: Grounding Ourselves in the Good News this Lent” from A Sanctified Art. (Sanctifiedart.org). Each week will focus on key scriptures and themes of Jesus’ life and ministry. We look forward to a meaningful season of Lent together as we move toward Holy Week and bring the good news of Jesus into our community and world.
Ash Wednesday [Cancelled due to weather!]
Wednesday, February 18 - 7:00 p.m.
We will gather in the sanctuary for worship with music leadership from our Chancel Choir. You’ll have the opportunity to write down something you want to release for the Lenten season that will be safely burned. This is a confidential prayer between you and God. We remember our mortality as we receive the sign of the cross on our forehead or hand. We’ll also celebrate Communion as we begin the Lenten season together.
Family Ukrainian Egg Day
Saturday, March 21 - 1:00-4:00 p.m.
Join us in Aldersgate Hall for a beloved tradition, as we learn the art of Ukrainian egg dying. Additional decorating activities make this an event for all ages. RSVP by March 19 to Jan at jan@good.org or 952-452-9398 to ensure we have sufficient supplies.
Palm Sunday
Sunday, March 29 - 10:00 a.m.
Palm/Passion service with Chancel Chimes. From the palm processional to the beginning of Jesus’ final journey toward the cross, we begin Holy Week together. If you are not able to attend this service in person, you can find the link to the livestream here.
Maundy Thursday
Thursday, April 2 - 7:00 p.m.
Maundy Thursday service with Holy Communion and music from the Chancel Choir. We remember Jesus’ last night with his disciples around the table. If you are not able to attend this service in person, you can find the link to the livestream here.
Good Friday
Friday, April 3 - Joint Service
We will join Lake Harriet UMC (Minneapolis) and Church of Peace (Richfield) for a joint Good Friday service at 7:00 p.m. featuring the Seven Last Words of Christ and a combined choir. Music and scripture will be woven together throughout this “lessons and carols” style service. Lake Harriet is hosting the service at 4901 Chowen Avenue South, Minneapolis.
